Spontaneous Trip - Las Vegas
The summer of 2019 is slowly coming to an end, and I had yet to plan a trip anywhere. Planning a trip on a whim seemed like the only option with a few weeks left in the summer. Looked the cheapest flights to anywhere in the U.S.A and Canada. Eventually, landed on Las Vegas. Booked a flight, accommodation, and a car rental 3 days before having to leave for the south west.

My First Snowboard Season
In the summer of 2018, I applied for a photography position in Whistler, BC. I have been wanting to a season in the mountains for the longest time, and I finally went for it. I accepted a position working full-time as a photographer in Whistler, with one contingency...I had to find a place to live.
If anyone has tried to live in Whistler, they understand the struggle it is to find affordable house. Finding a place to live was a long and quite annoying process, but everything worked out in the end and I was able to find a place to live a week prior to when I was supposed to start my new job.
With this position came a season life pass to Whistler/Blackcomb mountains. One of the main reasons I wanted to work a season in the mountains. My first few weeks, I took it pretty slow on my snowboard. It would have been the first time I would be binding since I got my hip replaced last January. With each run I took,I began to get more and more comfortable on my board again, and learned to trust my hip again.
I am currently two months into the season, and my legs are in great shape and I am so much more comfortable on a snowboard then i was prior to my operation. I get to snowboard at least 6 days a week, and the amount of terrain I get to ride and the views I have been able to see has made my first snowboard season an absolute dream.
Los Angeles - Big Sur - Yosemite
A week tomorrow, Vanessa and I will be at the Toronto airport awaiting our flight to Los Angeles. We are both so excited to be heading out to the west coast. We have a bunch of places we want to check out and restaurants to try.
I am planning to rent a surfbaord for the days that we are in LA and join the dawn patrol when I can.
I am still working on a shot list for LA, but my shot list for Yosemite is coming along so far.
Yosemite National Park Shot List:
Glacier Point, Taft Point, Yosemite Falls,
Tunnel view, Half Dome, Bridalveil Falls,
Vernal Falls, El Capitan, Nevada Falls,
Fall 2018 - California
I had a few places on my list I wanted to go to in the fall. Finally decided on taking a week trip to the west coast and explore Los Angeles, Big Sur and Yosemite National Park.
I have been wanted to surf since last fall, so now I'll get the chance to while in LA before driving up the Pacific Coast Highway to Big Sure and finishing the trip camping for a few nights in the Yosemite Valley.
Post-Rocky Mountain Trip
A short vacation in the Rockies was well worth it. The smoke from the forest fires were pretty intense on some days but its a real testament to how amazing this landscape is that even with a cloud of smoke covering the skies and summits, its still one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
Banff/Jasper National Park Shot List:
Two Jack Lake, Tunnel Mountain, Moose Lake, Maligne Canyon
Pyramid Lake, Peyto Lake, Sunwapta Falls,Athabasca Falls
Lake Minnewanka, Emerald Lake, Takakkaw Falls, Lake Louise
I had a bunch others on my list, but unfortunately wasn't able to get them all. Just means I have to head back there.
Banff Trip Update
Just found out that a few things changed to our itinerary. After camping at two jack lake we will be driving out to Jasper National Park. I have never been to Jasper and I am stoked to head out there. My photo list just got a bit longer.
I will be posting an itinerary and a potential shot list for when I am exploring the park.
Mont Tremblant to Banff
Right in the middle of the summer, and I have been itching to hit the road or catch a flight. This summer my family has decided to head to Mont Tremblant, Qc for the august long weekend, then I am immediately flying out to Edmonton, getting a car and driving to Banff National Park for 5 days. If you've visited Banff, or been to any national park for that matter, 5 days is not enough time, but 5 days is better then none at all.
In Mont Tremblant, my family and I have rented a chalet for the weekend. I haven't been there during the summer months so I'm excited to see what the mountain and lakes look like from the summit.
I fly into Banff on August 9 and I'll be there until August 14. My girlfriend Vanessa, her brother and his friends will be camping at Two Jack Lake for two nights then staying in Banff for the rest of the time. I already have some photo ideas that I want to capture and hopefully get a lot of footage to put an edit together.
Update - June 22, 2018
I have just passed my 5 months post-operation date. I got my hip fully replaced back in January. The recover was hard and had to be persistent. The idea of learning how to walk again was a daunting task, but with the help of the support system i was able to get through it quickly. Each week that went by i saw gradual progress which made me want to keep going.
I am very close to being at 100% recovery. I have gotten away from doing my in-home physio therapy, but now have gotten back to doing my exercises regularly. I have been riding my bike every day and that has helped a lot with getting a better range of motion and gaining my strength back in my legs and glutes. In a months time, I should be back to full recovery and hopefully get back on a surfboard soon.
Video Content to Come for 2018
It is May 2018 and I am so far behind on uploading video content from the several trips I have gone on since last August. I still have two videos from Hawaii to edit and publish. I have to yet to begin editing any footage from a road trip down to the Great Smokey Mountains, or from Banff National Park/Whistler/Vancouver. The last few months have been crazy with recovering from my hip replacement and trying to get back into a work routine.
I have recently gotten back from a spontaneous road trip to Badlands National Park in South Dakota, and have added to my back up of footage and videos to create.
Goals for the next fews months are to catch up on publishing content and catch up to my most recent trip in 2018.
Videos to come:
Great Smoky Mountains
Badlands National Park
Badlands National Park
Badlands National Park is AMAZING! All the peaks and valley are incredible. Badlands National Park was so different from the national park I have already visited. Not many trees an more free to roam the park. There are a few designated trails, however, I think that one could really explore the park by going off path an find some hidden gems throughout park. It was an incredible experience.
I was only in the park for approximately 26 hours. The goal for this trip was to be as spontaneous as possible. We picked a place and just drove there. The idea behind this trip was to travel as far as possible and still make it back to Toronto by the end of the long weekend. Although I was only in the park for a short amount of time, the driving there was also a part of the fun.
Not sure what U.S. national park will be next, but the top parks on my list to visit are Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Zion.
May Long Weekend
For the Victoria Day long weekend, also known as May 2-4, Vanessa and I planned to take a road trip. THe only restrictions we had was that we leave Thursday and have to come back by Monday night. We landed on camping in Badlands National Park, South Dakota. It is a 20 hour drive from Toronto. We are only to be in the park for about 36 hours.Plans are to camp, hike and take a bunch of photos. Major photos will be of the peaks and valleys and the night sky as it is supposed to be a new moon which means clear skies (fingers crossed).
Plans for 2018
To start off 2018 I got my left hip totally replaced. The first half of the year is strictly recovery. The second half of the year I am hoping to be back to my normal adventurous self. Vanessa and I have a few small road trip ideas for the summer and one big trip in the works for the start of the fall.
Photography plans are to further my landscape composition throughout Ontario in the summer. I would like to work more on portraits and street photography. As I live in Toronto, street photo shoots are not uncommon. I have a few brands in mind that I would like to shoot for.
I have been working on editing some travel videos form the last few years. Working on transitions and creating better stories from all the video footage I have gathered.
2018 is turning out to be an amazing year thus far.
Trip Out West
Vanessa and I planned a trip to visit the two most western provinces of Canada. We decided to fly to Calgary and drive to Banff for a few days then road trip to Whistler and eventually ending our trip in Vancouver. Our big plans for this trip was to snowboard in the Rocky Mountains as it has always been a dream of mine to do so and visit some friends and family while on our vacations.
North Carolina - Road trip - November 1st - 9th
Next on the list for 2017 is a week long road trip down to the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. A friend and I have been planning a trip for a long while and we have finally been able to settle on one. We will be leaving November 1 and come back on November 9.
Plans are to hike and camp in Great Smokey Mountain national park then eventually make our way to the coast to visit the Outter banks. I have the surfing bug ever since I left Hawaii, so I'll be taking another crack at in but this time in some colder water.
Off to Hawaii: August 21 - September 5
Finally booked a flight to Hawaii, USA. Hawaii has been a bucket list place of mine for as long as I can remember. The island vibe is something that I am very attracted to. I currently have three islands on my list to visit (Kauai, Oahu, Island of Hawaii)
I have a ton planned while there. I am planning to hike as many trails as possible, photograph sunrises/sunsets all over the island, and of course learn how to surf.
I am planning to also cross off skydiving from my bucket list.
2017 is a major travel year for me. I cannot get enough of seeing all that the world has to offer and meeting dozens of amazing people along the way.
Like many other people that has caught the travel bug, I have dozens of trips and adventures stacking themselves upon one another in my head.
This fall shall be interesting. I have a couple of desinations in mind.
Potentially Costa Rica, Peru, Hawaii or start a USA road trip that I have been craving for.
Cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.
